Some people shouldn’t blog.

You know, I just have to say…upon reading the Dallas Observer’s Best Of for 2004, I just don’t agree. Mark Cuban’s blog is NOT the best blog in Dallas.

I certainly wouldn’t suggest that mine should be in the running either, so get that out of your mind right now. But seriously…I am much, much more in agreement with the readers’ pick, Texas Gigs. It’s funny, it’s full of incredible information on the local music scene happenings, and it has a purpose other than promoting a crappy show and annoying me. (I rarely read the Cuban blog, to be honest, because of those two things.)

I mean, yes, it’s awesome that Cuban was a geek who created a cool thing and sold it for a lot of money so he could live out the geek fantasy of owning a basketball team, turning it around from crap and making it an actual NBA contender, having a golden (read: orange/crispy) tan (not because he actually gets outside now, but because he can afford to fake’n'bake thanks to his big SkinCancer-R’Us endorsement), and having women flock to him like white on rice because he’s in the money. Good for him and all that, geek power!! But seriously, find something else to blog about than The Benefactor. NOBODY. CARES.

It’d be cooler if his blog was actually funny or snarky. Then maybe I’d enjoy it more. But really, Observer, Best Blog in Dallas? I think not. There are so many bloggers in Dallas that ARE funny, snarky, and way closer to being the Best. I’ll give Mark an A for effort (especially when it comes to the Mavs, and I don’t even really like pro ball that much), but I’m sorry…maybe you should hire one of the fantastic Dallas bloggers on a consultation basis and get the snark level up on your blog.
