I got the best surprise today when I discovered that Rhapsody gave me an early Christmas present. Mac and Linux users can now use Rhapsody through www.rhapsody.com, which allows you to install a browser plug-in that is a streamlined version of the standalone jukebox. (I installed it on my Firefox browser at work on my PC, as well.) It actually works better than the jukebox, IMHO, because it’s not so resource-hoggy. The only feature I ever use that is missing is the Library feature, which is essentially a list of albums bookmarked that you like for easy access in the future. But that’s cool…now albums have an actual web address that I can bookmark in my browser.
I was going to cancel my Rhapsody subscription because I was paying $10 a month to only use it at work. I was letting my best friend use it, but when trying to save money, things you don’t really use are the first to go. Now I don’t have to cancel! I am so so excited, because Rhapsody was one of the few things that kept me from 100% deciding on an iBook versus a PC laptop. Now it’s iBook all the way, baby! And I believe a Mac mini or iMac will follow to replace Ginger…I can’t wait!
If you’re interested in Rhapsody, go to www.rhapsody.com and sign up. I hate Real Networks (on principle) but I have LOVED Rhapsody for almost two years now. I can’t help it, it RULES!
