Let Me Be Very Clear…

…that MOL Junior’s pathetic attempt to make me mad today was really quite sad. I think he’s trying too hard…in the past he was much more subtle in actually baiting me, or he did it by accident but reaped the benefits of the button-pushing anyway.

Better luck next time!

oh, that’s the sound she makes when she’s speechless with geeker joy

The world will stand still on Friday night at midnight for many obsessed fans of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. I know that YayCoffee, La Nikki and I are fairly combusting from sheer joy at the thought of finally cracking open our copies of The Half-Blood Prince. I know that not all of you understand the whole Harry Potter nerd factor, and that’s OK. But the real world will cease to exist to me while I wrap myself up in the comfortable blanket of Wizarding England and find out if Harry’s going to spank his inner moppet and get over the raging Joan Collins teenage ‘tude he had going on for most of Book 5.

take my love, take my land

Even though it has possibly the worst theme song in the history of television, I am really sad to be done with Firefly. I finished the last disc (FINALLY) last night and I have grown surprisingly attached to these characters. It happened quietly, unassumingly. Damn that Joss Whedon and his likeable characters and great dialogue! This show didn’t have a lot of stuff for me to directly relate to, like Buffy did when it came out (the teenage girl stuff, not the vampire slayer stuff), but I really felt connected to the crew of Serenity and their world.

I am really REALLY excited about the movie in September now. I do think that parts of the show will really lend themselves better to a movie than TV, though I do hold out a bit of hope now that if the movie does well, the show will reappear on TV. One can only hope.

Thank goodness I finally got a new DVD player so I could finish watching Firefly. I know Mars and Jason will be happy to have their set back. Now if only Netflix will report back on receiving my discs and send me the next 3 discs in the Gilmore Girls Season 2 set…

rock my world (literally)

You know, I have a very low Bono threshold, because I basically think he’s a self-involved sellout, but I must admit that seeing U2 team up with Paul McCartney for Sgt. Pepper gave me some goosebumps.

Watch any and all of Live 8 on demand here. I think it’s great that AOL has archived it all, because the TV coverage was crap. Good job, AOL (that’s also something I rarely say). Behold the power of teh intarwebs.

shocked and sad

My prayers and thoughts are with the people of London today. It makes me sadder than I can even express that we live in a world where people will do such things to other innocent people.

Shawn gave it an A as a Ronnie-centric mix. I think Ronnie liked most of it except for the Neutral Milk Hotel track. The jury is still out on whether or not he started destroying things the second he actually listened to Radiohead.

Allow myself to introduce…myself.

So The Monkey Attack Victim was discussing things that she might tell her younger self if she had the chance, in order to facilitate a few key changes that might have made life easier in places. I have a few things myself that I’d like to say to…myself:

- Credit cards may be allowing you to eat now, but you’re still not going to have money to pay them back any time before you’re 30. At least pay your minimum on time.
- Long distance relationships are a BAD IDEA.
- It’s OK if you do things to make yourself happy.
- If you have a bad feeling about someone, it’s probably correct.
- No matter how sad you get, do not drink a fifth of Jack and smoke a pack of cigarettes in one night. You will want to die the next day.
- Don’t go to Padre.
- Don’t let your parents buy you a Taurus. Hold out for the Honda.
- Don’t go on that 2nd interview with the strange company, because you WILL be standing outside all day if you do. It’s totally Boiler Room without Ben Affleck.
- Stand up for yourself even when you think you can’t or shouldn’t.
- Don’t stop dancing. You’ll get fat.
- Don’t feel guilty because you quit music for awhile. You’ll still sing.
- Your true love is out there and he’s probably a lot closer than you think…you’ll meet him when you’re ready for it. Be patient and quit dating idiots.
